Why Nemasys Biological Chafer Grub Killer?

Chafer grubs are soil-dwelling larvae of chafer beetles. Depending on the species of chafer they either feed on decaying plant material or plant roots.

Evidence of their activities can be seen in a number of ways. Between autumn and spring the damage is most noticeable as grubs are at this point reaching maturity. Yellow patches will appear on lawns, and there may be secondary signs of damage from birds, badgers and foxes, who tear up the turf to feed on the grubs.

Nemasys® Biological Garden Chafer Grub Killer is a safe and effective way to deal with a chafer grub infestation, which can only be treated using biological methods in most of Europe.

Application

  • Apply to moist soil when soil temperature is between 12-30 oC
  • Use immediately on receipt of packs or refrigerate at 5oC (do not freeze); use within expiry date (see inner sleeve of pack)
  • Avoid application in direct sunlight; nematodes are uv-sensitive, so apply on a dull day or in the evening
  • Cut the grass short before application and consider scarification in turf with excessive thatch
  • Use the entire pack and do not store stock solution or diluted product
  • Make a stock solution as directed on the label, making a paste in the first instance and then adding remainder of the water, to avoid lumps forming; this solution should be mixed thoroughly to ensure nematodes are well dispersed and kept agitated
  • Dilute stock solution in a watering can as detailed on label
  • Use a course rose on the can (pores >1.4 mm diameter) or a hose-end feeder (details on sleeve)
  • Water the lawn thoroughly after application to wash the nematodes into the soil and keep the soil moist for at least two weeks after application
